Olivia Cobb, a new VISTA, recently joined Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity as a staff member for the next year. Olivia’s focus is to continue the development and implementation of a resource development and fundraising plan.
AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is a national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Volunteers in Service to America was founded in 1965 and merged with AmeriCorps’s programs in 1993 as a joint effort to eradicate poverty.
This past May, Olivia graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in international studies. With her degree, she hopes to develop sustainability plans with international organizations to help alleviate world poverty and hunger. Working with Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, She expects to learn more about non-profits and develop long lasting relationships within Habitat for Humanity.
Olivia comes from a small town in Northern Minnesota called Nashwauk. It was there that she grew up with her 7 siblings, parents, and 3 dogs in the countryside. In their free time as a family, they enjoy going disc golfing, 4-wheeling, and watching movies in the evenings.
